Summary

In the heart of a picturesque Pakistani village stands the grand Khan Haveli, home to the Khanzada family. The esteemed Dilshad Khanzada and his wife, Zartaj Bibi, affectionately known as Khanum Bibi, preside over the haveli. They have two sons: the dutiful and composed Shariq Khanzada, and the rebellious and carefree Buraq Khanzada.

Shariq marries his cousin, Bab, a woman as composed as he is, and they have three children: Balaj, Mahboob, and Saba. Buraq, on the other hand, marries his university fellow, Aleena, who proves to be ill-tempered and disrespectful. Aleena’s constant quarrels and her disdain for the village life lead to frequent conflicts within the haveli.

To restore peace, Dilshad Khanzada decides to move Buraq, Aleena, and their two children, Yousuf and Roop, to a smaller haveli. However, Aleena, driven by her aversion to village life, soon convinces Buraq to move to the city.

Dilshad Khanzada, heartbroken by the separation from his son, arranges a marriage between Balaj and Roop to reunite the family. Balaj, understanding the gravity of marriage, insists on waiting until Roop is old enough to comprehend the commitment.

Fifteen years later, Balaj Khanzada, now thirty years old, is the respected Sardar (chief) of the village, known for his just and fair leadership. However, he carries a burden of guilt for a past injustice towards his betrothed, Roop. Balaj had fallen in love with his classmate, Natasha, and their relationship ended tragically two years ago, leaving him scarred and emotionally distant.

In the bustling city of Karachi, Roop Khanzada, a lively and outspoken girl, is unaware of her betrothal to Balaj. She is in love with Behram Shah, a charming young man who promises to send his parents to her house to formalize their relationship.

As fate would have it, Buraq Khanzada’s deteriorating health forces the family to return to the village, where Roop’s life takes an unexpected turn. She encounters the stern and enigmatic Balaj Khanzada, and their initial interactions are fraught with misunderstandings and clashes.

Amidst the growing tension between Balaj and Roop, an old rivalry between the Khanzadas and the neighboring Chaudhry family resurfaces. Chaudhry Hussain, seeking revenge for a past humiliation, sets fire to Balaj’s land, further fueling the animosity between the two families.

As the story unfolds, secrets are revealed, hearts are broken, and loyalties are tested. Will Balaj and Roop find their way to each other despite the obstacles that lie in their path? Will the flames of hatred between the Khanzadas and the Chaudhrys ever be extinguished? Only time will tell in this captivating tale of love, revenge, and destiny.
