Summary
In a bustling household in Pakistan, a young woman named Wahiba finds herself at odds with her family’s expectations. Known for her bold and independent spirit, Wahiba clashes with her cousin Habib, a strict and traditional man who believes in upholding family honor. Their opposing personalities create a constant tension that affects the entire household.
When a marriage proposal arrives for Wahiba from Habib’s friend, she is hesitant to accept. The groom-to-be, Haroon, is everything Wahiba despises – arrogant, disrespectful, and controlling. Despite her reservations, Wahiba’s family pressures her to agree to the marriage, believing it to be a suitable match.
As the wedding day approaches, Wahiba’s unhappiness grows. She confides in her stepmother, Khadija, who offers her support and understanding. Khadija, often mistreated by Wahiba’s aunts, empathizes with her struggles and encourages her to follow her heart.
On the day of her engagement, Wahiba’s emotions overwhelm her. She breaks down in tears, unable to bear the thought of marrying Haroon. Habib, witnessing her distress, comes to her aid and takes her away from the ceremony.
In the aftermath of the broken engagement, Wahiba’s family is furious with her. They accuse her of being stubborn and selfish, unaware of the true reasons behind her decision. Wahiba, determined to protect her dignity and independence, stands her ground and refuses to be forced into a loveless marriage.
As Wahiba navigates the challenges posed by her family and society, she learns the importance of staying true to herself. With the support of her stepmother and her own inner strength, she fights for her right to choose her own path in life.
